dougwilder - the purely domestic wine blog

Written by wine expert Doug Wilder, a specialist in domestic wine since 1990, includes independent, cutting-edge, early-stage recommendations of emerging domestic producers. As former creator of The Wilder Side of California wine reviews and the freerunjuice blog at Vinfolio, Wilder reviews wine on a 100 point scale only including wine scoring at least 90 points. All reviews are independently produced by Doug Wilder and include direct links to selected retailers for ordering.

About Me

My Photo
Doug Wilder
Calistoga, CA, United States
I spent the last 18 years learning everything I can about the domestic wine business. In 1996 I began publishing my thoughts of the best wines I tasted, including assigning a numerical rating. Nobody except critics did that then. In the intervening thirteen years I have been blessed to work at a pair of the best retailers in the world that exposed me to the finest selection of domestic wines anywhere. I continue to learn everyday from readers, clients and friends who constantly challenge me to keep raising the bar. I can't imagine ever getting tired of writing about wine.
